The British Pearl Association recommends that your pearls and beads should be restrung by a necklace restringing service every 12 months to avoid accidental breakage of the silk or thread through wear and tear.
Even if the pearls are not worn regularly, the silk or thread on which they are strung will degrade naturally over time. This means that the silk must be routinely replaced to keep it strong and avoid breakages.
Our
Pearls should not be worn in the shower or swimming, as getting them wet will damage them. We also advise against spraying products such as perfume and hairspray near your pearls.
Always put your pearls away in the packaging given to you at point of sale when not in use.
Necklaces over 20” in length will be charged by our necklace restringing services at £2 per additional inch.
Terms, Conditions and Information
Your items will be fully insured whilst in our care. All items will be photographed by our necklace restringing service on booking in. Please raise any concerns you have at point of collection.
Our restringing service takes approximately 3-4 weeks.
Please note that multi-row pearl necklaces may require fittings, and antique or seed pearl items will require specialised estimates, and possibly longer timescales, depending on their complexity.
If you require a faster service, please confirm this when booking in your items. We add a £10 surcharge to guarantee a faster service of 1-2 weeks.
All of the repairs conducted by our jewellery stringing services are guaranteed for one year against faulty workmanship. Please be aware that this does not cover accidental damage, misuse or stretching of the material.
We offer pearl cleaning on request or as needed for an additional £5-£10. Please request this at the time of booking in.
The prices quoted for our necklace restringing services are correct as of Spring 2021 and are subject to change.
